Brain hack: Six Secrets to Learning Faster

🧠 Attention
Focus. We have the ability to choose how much attention we pay to something. More attention more information retention. Digital social media result in attention deficits. Exercise not only improves attention, also expand brain cells, improve memory and cognition.

🧠 Alertness
Activation of fight-or-flight system (sympathetic nervous system). Stressors release adrenaline/ noradrenaline, enhance alertness and learning. Chronic stress or long term stress can physically changes the brain and cause issue with learning and memory- memory impairment. Thus, little bit stress is good. Not chronic long term stress.

Alertness reduce after meal cause it switch off fight-or-flight system. So don't sit down after meal.

Limit of alertness, Ultradian rhythm- every 90 mins, we're going in and out of peak alertness. So, you can't be 100% all the time. It will be a chunk of 8 to 30 minutes in the middle there we will be most alert.

🧠 Sleep
Sleep important for learning and critical for memory consolidation- turning short term memory into the long term ones.

🧠 Repetition
Repetition is key for learning. Repetitive thinking or doing things. Repetition will reinforce the pathway and connection in the brain. Repetition with spacing period.

🧠 Breaks
Take breaks 10 to 20 mins between long hours learning.

🧠 Mistakes
Make mistakes to train your brain to handle new things.

Psychological difficult Airway

Psychological difficult airway.........

Take home messages:

🌻 The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure.

🌻 Conscientiousness...work ethic: Don't be upset by the results you didn't get with the work you didn't do.

🌻 System 1 training- Learn as many and execute as 1

-System 1 training doesn't have to be something you got to go somewhere to do, you can do psycho motor rehearsal where you go through the maneuvers as if you have the equipment in your hand and you do that on a regular basis and on top of that you go and you take those same steps and you do them on mannequin on a regular basis like every month you going to do this.

🌻 System 1 training can avoid fixation bias.

👎 Fixation bias is when we are faced with something that scares us, we tend to do the same thing over and over again, just give me a little bit, just give me another try. Einstein called it Insanity- doing the same thing repeatedly expecting some sort of different outcome

🕮Future good books for reading:

📚 Deep survival by Laurence Gonzales:

Fear and Anxiety are normal- How you deal with it

Having a plan is necessary- Survival is about how you adapt when plan fails

Environment does not adapt to your skill

📚 Outliers- The story of success by Malcolm Gladwell:

The great weren't great cause at birth they could paint. The greats were great cause they painted a lot.

Most importantly BE HUMBLE

PS: This will be my new blog space to record down my next phase of lifelong training. It's gonna be the toughest of all as it deals with life and death issue. Hope I can persevere through it with God's grace and help. Also hope I can regularly journal my blog down as I did during my undergrad. In total, I had 3 blog sites before this-  2 blogspots and 1 weibo. But because this weibo not so friendly user and old blogspot couldn't sign in, thus a brand new blog under my supplementary gmail ✌

Follow up of 200bpm

Follow up from the previous post regarding a young lady with heart gone crazy beating at 200bpm suddenly just 4 hours post partum.  Thank Go...
