Brain hack: Six Secrets to Learning Faster

🧠 Attention
Focus. We have the ability to choose how much attention we pay to something. More attention more information retention. Digital social media result in attention deficits. Exercise not only improves attention, also expand brain cells, improve memory and cognition.

🧠 Alertness
Activation of fight-or-flight system (sympathetic nervous system). Stressors release adrenaline/ noradrenaline, enhance alertness and learning. Chronic stress or long term stress can physically changes the brain and cause issue with learning and memory- memory impairment. Thus, little bit stress is good. Not chronic long term stress.

Alertness reduce after meal cause it switch off fight-or-flight system. So don't sit down after meal.

Limit of alertness, Ultradian rhythm- every 90 mins, we're going in and out of peak alertness. So, you can't be 100% all the time. It will be a chunk of 8 to 30 minutes in the middle there we will be most alert.

🧠 Sleep
Sleep important for learning and critical for memory consolidation- turning short term memory into the long term ones.

🧠 Repetition
Repetition is key for learning. Repetitive thinking or doing things. Repetition will reinforce the pathway and connection in the brain. Repetition with spacing period.

🧠 Breaks
Take breaks 10 to 20 mins between long hours learning.

🧠 Mistakes
Make mistakes to train your brain to handle new things.
